Fonkynson
Growing up in France, Fonkynson was greatly influenced by his father’s music - the iconic sounds of the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. His interest quickly shifted to electronic music as he would listen to vinyls from The Chemical Brothers and Motorbass before diving deeper into the house, techno and drum'n'bass sounds of the era.
Fonkynson eventually releases his first EP in 2008 on american label Super HiFi and would end up selling 2000 copies of the vinyl only release, filed under funky breaks.
In 2013, he would come back to his roots by producing a french-house and nu-disco EP, this time released by british imprint Heavy Disco. The "Thirsty" EP would receive plenty of media attention and as a result Fonkynson establishes himself as a household name of the current nu-disco scene
More recently, the artist has signed with Montreal based label Lisbon Lux Records (home of Le Couleur, Beat Market and Das Mörtal) and is making more and more appearances as a DJ. In 2014, Fonkynson released remixes that received attention from influential media organisations such as EDM.COM and FunkyPanda - garnering tens of thousands of views in the process.
