DJ Tennis

Founder and A&R of Life and Death Records, Manfredi Romano began his career tour-managing punk bands and organizing left-field music events in Italy around the turn of the Millennium. After studying computer science at the University of Pisa, he founded DAZE, Italy’s first booking agency devoted exclusively to electronic music.

Drawing on two decades of behind-the-scenes experience, Romano launched his DJ Tennis project in 2010, quickly gaining worldwide recognition in the electronic music scene. Since then, he’s played regularly at renowned clubs like Circoloco Ibiza, Fabric London, and Panorama Bar in Berlin; festivals like Sónar, Time Warp, Primavera Sound, and Coachella; and held a Phonox residency in London in 2022. Since 2017, he co-founded and curates the Rakastella festival during Art Basel Miami, a collaboration between Life and Death and Innervisions.

As a performer, DJ Tennis has the rare ability to create intimate atmospheres even in the largest settings, blending house, techno, and disco in eclectic and compelling ways. A longtime producer, he draws from past relationships with post-rock icons like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tortoise, and Fugazi to craft intricately synthesized electronic compositions. His music has been released on labels like Kompakt, Rhythm Assault, Running Back Records, !K7, Cercle Records, Aus Music, Circoloco Records, alongside regular releases on Life and Death. He has also remixed artists such as Diplo, Boys Noize, Loco Dice, WhoMadeWho, Acid Pauli, and many others.

After living in Miami, Berlin, and Barcelona, DJ Tennis now resides in Paris. Outside the studio and the club, Manfredi Romano has worked as a chef, a passion he merges with music through charity events and collaborations with Beatport at ADE, Pioneer, and Resident Advisor. He is also an avid collector of bicycles, vintage action figures, and continues to expand his vinyl record collection, which now exceeds 11,000.
