Alex Sonata & TheRio

Alex Sonata & TheRio have been making their presence known in the trance scene for quite some time. The members of the group, Fraser Shaw and Riccardo Derio, began collaborating after simultaneously discovering each other’s solo tracks and fostering a mutual admiration and respect for one another's work. In 2020, after years of collaborating, the two decided to make it official and began producing under the moniker Alex Sonata & TheRio. Their combination of influences made for a unique style, which garnered the attention of trance titans Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Gareth Emery, Cosmic Gate, Sander Van Doorn, among others. Most recently, Alex Sonata & TheRio have found a home on Anjunabeats, having been featured on numerous Group Therapy radio shows, the Anjunabeats Rising Residency, and various label compilations.
